My computer has become unusable! Whenever I click on My Computer or any
folder icons, it can take up two or three minutes for it to respond. I have
defrag'd, run Ad-Aware, run Norton WinDoctor... all to no avail.

Does anyone know what might be going on?? I am afraid that I am going to
have to break out my system restore CDs and start from scratch.

Thanks,

Have you tried Systems Restore? There maybe a date at which everything run
smoothly to which you may restore your computer. I create such points myself
from time to time. They are very useful.

Do not think the models listed in the Article posted by Ramesh are the
only models which cause that type of problem. Any change of printer,
scanner, camera can create that affect.

What is the history of Windows XP on your computer. Was it always
Windows XP from new?

What error reports appear in Event Viewer?

Make an exact note of the precise text of any error message. Minor
discrepancies can
make it harder to search for information about the error message.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer.
When researching the meaning of the error, information regarding Event
ID, Source
and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the
error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button
resembling two
pages. Double click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your
message
(email) and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the
info from the
Event Viewer Error Report complete with links into the message. Make
sure this is
the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer.

Any error reports in Event Viewer?

Update all hardware drivers. Visit the Brother site. What model is the
printer?
