Folder view keeps changing from tiles to icons

I get very frustrated when I set the folder view to icons and about an hour
later when I reopen the folder the view is back to tiles. The folder
contains mostly shortcuts. I don't understand why the view keeps changing
to tiles. Help!

The Default for Windows XP is to remember the view settings for the 400 most
recently used folders.
