There is a folder Documents and Settings\user\Local Setting\Temp with a lot
of different files in it. Can I delete at least some of them? If your answer
is yes where can I find the information on those, which I can delete?

You can delete them all, by nature of the folder. They are files only need temporally.

Say you download something from the internet but do not save to a location, but open it instead, the file is written there temporally.

File Type: Temporary File

File Extension: .tmp

Description: This file is created by applications to store information temporarily.

Hi,
It would probably help a lot if you listed the files that
are in that folder here. Otherwise it's really hard to
answer your question without possibly messing up.

Thanks!
E.

It seems to me that, in its main part, folders that get in the Temp folder

arose after some application was installed. It follows at least from their
names: install, for example. As far as there are a lot of files in some of
folders, and I am lazy enough, I try to give for example list of files for
one of the shortest ones: file_id.diz, license.txt, order.frm, order.txt,
readme.txt, setup.exe, whatsnew.txt. There are folders with names as
_ISTMP2.DIR-_ISTMP_12.DIR. As for me all of them are identical and differ
only in time being created. ini file is Adobe Installer Internal
Configuration file. May I delete them all? There is the cddb folder with
only one file in it: cddb.db. An so on. I'm not sure I can delete all
folders and files in Temp folder because it contains for example such
folders as cookies, default, history. But why these are in the Temp folder?
