Folder Settings - how to keep them..???

## W.E. wont keep the folder settings such as keeping my photo folders set
to Thumbnails.
I got this from some NG here:

Windows remembers 400 folder settings. When that number is reached some
settings aren't retained any longer. You can change this to 8000 by adding
this edit to the registry.

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and
answer yes to the import prompt.

## What "import" prompt? These directions aren't specific. This
information is meaningless.

REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the file and
selecting Edit.

## Can someone explain how to increase the number from 400 to 8000 for non
technicians?

If you download the twaek from kelly'skorner just right click the file and then
click merge
This merges the registry setting in the file into your registry and is activated
the next time you reboot.
All of kelly's files do exactly as promised

OK, I downloaded it and it's installed. I'll know after a reboot. Does it
only work in W.E. or can I set my preferences in other windows? For
instance when I want to add a midi file to e-mail I want them to show in the
selection window as DETAILS with the size etc, not as tiles, list or
something else. If it does work there - HOW?

only a registry hack will do that...........beyond my knowledge

The dialog window only shows objects in List view (small icons). The only
way to change this window is by clicking the view button and the settings
does not stick.
