Folder Redirection - Conflict Management?

We are working on implementing a GPO to redirect all users MY Documents

to a server. But, we have a question on how the GPO handles file
conflict resolution. If a file exists at the new location with the
same name, how does the GPO handle the conflict? Does it not move,
compare time stamps, other info? Is there a way to control how it
handles conflicts?

If you are using folder redirection that element of the profile is seperate
and now no longer syncs as the user logs on and off and only resides on the
server. When you set the policy you can choose to copy all of the files up
to the server to start with. The only complication to this is "offline files
and folders" which will normaly be turned off on desktops, however would be
enabled on laptops so that they still take and offline copy of the now
network only redirected folder (otherwise they would have no access to
anything once disconnected). The mobsync capablity "offline files and
folders" for laptops does work on a time/modified capability and will warn
if a file is modified offline and also on the redirected folder, caused by
users that work offline on laptops and also use the odd desktop in the
office. A conflict manager will start and warn the user and allow them to
select to keep both or either master copy and allows them to view both.

Interesting. So it actually asks the user. Good info.

We are pretty straight forward, no offline or roaming proflies to worry
about, just straight users data that may or may not reside in a
standard location. We simply are trying to get all of our sites to
ensure all the users data is created and stored on the server home
folders so we can protect it.
