Stopping folder redirection

Environment:
Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP3
Windows 2000 Pro Clients SP3

Problem:
After setting up a test user in a test OU with a GPO that has Desktop folder redirection enabled, if I move this test user to a different OU with the default GPO only that does not have Desktop folder redirection enabled the folder redirection does not go away. In the GPO I have setup that when the policy is removed it should copy the data from the remote location to the local profile and then begin to use it from there. This never seems to happen. How can I make the folder redirection stop?

You should be able to go to the My Documents (I am assuming this is what you
redirected) folder and just type in the path you want to use. The GPO will
gray this out when it is being applied, but will make it configurable after
the GPO is not in affect.

No, I'm not talking about My Documents, I'm talking about the Desktop and/or Application Data folders in the users profile.

I think the issue is that you need to "disable" the policy first, to return
the settings back to the original location. The new OU does not have any
information to tell the setting to move back to the original location, it
does not know what that original location is. So, when you move the object
to the new OU, it still takes on the old setting, but the GPO that set it is
no longer in place. You might want to try to move that object back to the
original OU, then disable the policy, then move the object to the new OU.
