Folder Properties

Hello,
I don't know if this is the right news group, if not please advice where to
go, thanks.

When I right click on a folder and click on properties it will say that the
folder contains 9 files when it actually only contains 8 files.
I then clicked on "Tools - Folder Options - View" to make sure that "Show
hidden files and folders" was selected so I could see if there was a hidden
file. Still, there were only 8 files and "Properties" showed 9 files.

Then I took an external HDD and on this computer it still shows one more
file on a certain folder. When I connected the external HDD to another
computer and clicked on properties for the same folder it showed the correct
numbers of files in that folder.
What should I do so that this computer will show the correct number of
files?

Also not all folders show incorrect numbers of files.
Thanks,
AJS

Is there a sub-folder in the folder with a file in it? My system counts
correctly in several folder I checked.

(Sorry, I mistakenly replied to you, Gerry instead to the group.)

Thanks for your reply,
no, there is no subfolder.
I found out what the problem was:
when I open a folder with pictures in it and I click on the thumbnail view,
Windows creates a "thumbs" file that I can not see even when I enable "Show
hidden files and folders" in "Tools - Folder Options - View".

This really throws me off when I manually syncronise my picture folder,
since the way I do this is by comparing each folder's property contents.
Any suggestions on how I not get these files included in the properties tab?

Thanks,
AJS
