Folder permissions reset automagically

A

Anders

I don't get this...

Win2K file server.
Folder set with certain permissions (Modify access for three groups)
A file in this folder is set to NOT inherit permissions, because only
one group is allowed to write to this file.

But after a little while, when I check permissions, the "allow
inheritable.."
check box is ticked again.

There is nothing in the audit logs, though I've set permissions change
auditing
for this file.

Before Windows 2000 can audit access to files and folders, you must use the
Group Policy snap-in to enable the Audit Object Access setting in the Audit
policy. If you do not, you receive an error message when you set up
auditing for files and folders, and no files or folders will be audited.
After auditing is enabled in Group Policy, view the security log in Event
Viewer to review successful or failed attempts to access the audited files
and folders.

First apply the audting ....chenge permission on folder....and cross check
audting is working fine .....
If auditing is working fine then you can go ahead
