Folder Permissions inconsistencies

We've been noticing some inconsistencies with folder permissions in
WinXP Pro SP1 with limited accounts using some software (Mavis Beacon 15
and Type To Learn 3). The software applications are XP compatible and
work on the majority of identical machines but on some the limited
acounts are unable to run the programs. If we manually go into the
programs' folder security settings and grant Users group Modify
permission then the programs work for the Limited accounts. Any ideas
what might be at the root of these inconsistencies? I doubt it is due to
the way the software applications were written since as I said they work
perfectly fine on the majority of XP machines in our labs.

TIA

Problem solved, it was caused by file system errors. Removing the
applications, running CHKDSK /F and re-installing the apps fixed the
problems.
