I was wondering if there is a way to make folder passwords
on Windows XP? I am currently sharing a folder on a local
network, but I want only certain people to access those
files. I want open access, so they can go to them any
time, as opposed to opening it and letting them download
and then closing the sharing again. Does Windows XP allow
passwords on folders?

Hi, what your speaking of is NTFS Permissions, is your
hard drive formatted with FAT32 or NTFS? If it is NTFS
use the following artical for help

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;hu;304040

otherwise if you highlite the folder and right click it
you will see options for folder permissions using fat32

With win xp, you can't set folder passwords. Win xp uses
NTFS permissions which is actually pretty nice since
nobody needs to remember passwords. You can check out
the following link which will answer any questions and
show you how to set this up. It's great!

Good luck.
