mr miller.
you have no idea how you just fixed a problem that has been driving me crazy
for about two weeks. i mean, hp techs and microsoft techs seemed unable to
help me fix this problem.
about two weeks ago, for some reason, when i would double click a folder,
any folder, it would open with the explorer tree on the left side, instead of
the "tasks" pane, as was the default. it would always open with the folder
icon on the toolbar pressed in, and i would have to x out of the explorer
pane to get my tasks pane back.
i called hp techs, i spent money with microsoft techs, and they all had me
doing the same thing.....opening the folder, going to view>explorer bar, and
taking the checkmark off of "folder", and "apply these settings".....but when
i would apply it and close out, and then open a folder.........same thing.
it would always reset back to that setting.
i also noticed that when i right clicked a folder, where it used to have the
OPEN command as the first, or top option, it now said EXPLORE, and OPEN was
second.
the last tech i talked actually told me i needed to do a full system restore.
so im here now posting my problem to see if i can get some help and i see
this post that says FOLDER OPTIONS. i read mr huf's problem, which seems
to be the exact opposite of mine.
i see where you explain to him how to get to his folder options thru the
command panel and reset the default to EXPLORE.
well, when i go there i see that i can reset my default FROM explore, to OPEN.
i do this and WA-LA! FIXED!
DUDE, YOU ARE A GENIUS! and i am very happy that i found your comment for
mr huf's problem.
my folders now open correctly, with the default OPEN as they should.
i hope your still following this post because im telling you, these little
tweaks bug me to death, and when "techs" cannot help me, i get frustrated.
i will call microsoft and get my money back for their non help. and i may
ask them to fire the guy i talked to and to hire you.
way to go mr miller. your the bomb!! lol
thanks for taking the time to help this guy, and inadvertantly helping me as
well.
all is right with the world.........until the next tweak goofs me up.
