Nick

Hello
When I access folder options, and click on the view tab,
there is no option for advances settings, which there is
meant to be. I am just enquiring as to why this is not
there and if you could help me get it back..

Thanks
Nick

Hi Nick,

Under Tools/Folder Options/View there has never been an option for Advanced
Settings. What are you trying to do/accomplish?

Thanks for your response. Well I'll tell you what I'm
trying to do:
What I have is a folder left over from a previous
installation of Windows on my hard drive, and when I
click on it It says 'Access is denied'. I was told by a
number of people to change the access to it, which is
done via the security tab in the properties of the file.
Problem is there is no security tab, and I was told you
can enable it via the folder options menu somewhere.

If you have any solutions to my problem, that would be
greatly appreciated, nick.

For XP Pro, disable Simple File Sharing in order to see the Security tab. For XP Home, boot into safe mode and login as 'Administrator'. You can see the Security tab in the Folder Properties.

Ah, ok....that makes better sense. :o)

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View/Unmark "Use Simple File Sharing".
Right click the folder/file in
