Folder opens on start-up

After turning on, or restarting, a folder automatically
opens on my desktop, even if I haven't accessed it in
some time. It is one I created named multimedia, and
contains only kazaa lite. I have cleared the "re-open
after restart" in folder options. This seems similar to
the "system32 opens" problem. Any ideas out there for
this XP Home anamoly?

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down
to Item No. 260. In the right column, click on "System32 Folder Opens
Upon Boot". Download this repair file and then run the repair.

Thanks Carey, but that doesn't do it. The folder isn't
system32, it is one I created. when I ran the repair
file, it returned with a message that it could not fix
the problem since that particular "expected registry
entry was not found" ( as it was a system32 folder issue,
not my multimedia folder issue )

Use MSCONFIG or System Information (Software Environment> Startup)
Examine each line for each startup program. Look for one that has long file
names and/or spaces in the path. These need to be enclosed in quotes.

When there is only a single quote mark or if they are missing all together,
what you are describing is the result. Windows goes to load the program at
startup. It cannot follow the path in the command to completion. It opens
Explorer at the point where it could go no further.

Solution is to track down the offending command line (in the registry
usually) and edit it properly.
Example: C:\Program Files\my program.exe
should be changed to "C:\Program Files\my program.exe"

That's the trick! Thanks to all who offered suggestions.
I was looking for thefolder description in the registry,
but overlooked another command line which started with
multimedia, and that was all it took for it to launch
automatically...until I put it into quotes. Thanks again
