Folder not keeping their setup

Hi,

I tried everything even a VBscript, and nothing works, if I set a folder to
sort document by type and using medium size icons, that setup will sick to
every other folders, but then if I open a folder containing pictures , and I
want them to sorted by name and with large picture, the next time that I
open the 1st folder it will be using those setup

Why is it that Microsoft, that eligedly hires the best programmers, can not
do what all Linux version do, just place a small hidden file in every folder
and in that file there is all the information about how it is supposed to be
presented, instead of using the registry, which is mostly a jubble of crap
that no one can clean in anyway that will make the system stable
