During Windows XP Home installation, it seems a new
account must be set up, which creates a new set of
folders along with it. There are also similar sets of
folders for 'All Users' and 'Default User'.
While some programs offer a choice during installation of
the account folder location for start menu items, some do
not and simply create the start menu items in the user
folders, while others create start menu items in 'All
Users' folders. That is very untidy when going into two
different storage locations to change start menu items.
Some menus end up containing items from both locations.
Is there some way of defaulting to 'All Users' during XP
installation to avoid having to set up another account
that can then result in fragmenting the start menu item
storage locations? Alternatively, is there some other
way of avoiding such fragmentation?
