Folder List - Duplicates and missing folders/files

HELP! The Folder List displays SOME duplicate folders and files, but not all.
If you delete ONE, all are deleted. Additionally, when a folder is opened,
the same problem occurs, AND many folders/files are not displayed. They ARE
there, but inaccessible.

From my perspective as an old programmer, it looks as though 'pointers' have
gotten hosed and an 'index' should be rebuilt.

Well Luke, if you're browsing the _vti folders you will see what "appears" to be duplicates but they aren't.
The are the meta data FP uses to manage your web.
So, if you delete a folder from the root of your web using FP to delete it,
FP will automatically delete the corresponding meta data folders and files.
If you have deleted files and folders using windows Explorer, you have committed a big no no.

The best thing to do would be to:
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with Expression Web Designer and
SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.

Then open your web and click Tools > Recalculate hyperlinks and FP will recharge the Light Saber.

May the force be with you.

That did it! Thank you very much!! This has been driving me nuts (and it's a
short trip).

Not to worry about the deletes. They were on purpose. I just found it
interesting that 3 folders were eliminated with one delete.

No more dark side! ;)
