In all the time I've been using XP, (almost two years) one thing I have
never solved is how to keep my folder displays the way I set them. Several
times a day I have to keep setting them back to the way I wan't them. I have
the box checked to save the folder settings but after a while, not even
necessarily after a reboot, the icons will be back as they were before. I
prefer the "List" setting for most of the folders but I like the "Icons"
setting for Control Panel and some other management type folders where there
are a limited number of icons. Also, the window size, such as my MIDI music
folder, will frequently not return to how I set it, forcing me to enlarge
it, even though I try exiting the window with the CTRL key down and click on
the X box to do so. Fairly often after exiting a folder or app, I'll see
all the desktop icons without their usual appearance and appear to
"refresh". After this, all my folders and open folder windows are back to
the way I don't want them. Is there a simple solution for this? I've tried
everything I can obviously see, but no luck.
