folder icons replaced with Internet explorer icons

While researching this prior to posting, I found several threads about
custom icons being replaced by the IE icon, but nothing about windows
folder icons being replaced. Any idea on how this happens and how to
fix it are appreciated

There is some method with regsvr32 command, do a search for it but if you
have Tweak Ui, then just open it > CLick Repair > Follow

I recommend downloading TweakUI :
