Folder icon missing

Using WinXP Professional....

All of the FOLDER icons have been chenged to a "generic" looking icon. This
happens on my desktop, in file choosers, and in windows explorer. My other
icons (applications, and shortcuts to applications are fine). It is only
icons representing folders (or shortcuts to folders that are "generic").

If I right-click on one of these generic icons and select Properties. Then I
select the Customize tab, in the Folder Icon area, the image is correct -- it
shows the actual folder icon, not the generic icon.

Here are a couple of things to try:

Change the Folder Icon &/or Opened Folder Icon
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/foldericonchange.vbs

Add Icon Cache Size to Folder Options/View (This could work if you have
an Iconcache problem.)

Thanks for the links. I tried the foldericonchange.vbs -- first to simply try
and reset everything (by leaving it blank), then with new GIFs for the
open/closed folders. But neither had any effect.

All of my folder icons are still "generic"

:(

I wonder if maybe my SHELL32.dll is currupt? Where can I download a current
version? I currently have: 6.00.2900.2951 (xpsp_sp2_gdr.060713-0009)

Maybe if you open a CMD window and type:

SFC /SCANNOW

Try deleting the iconcache.db file here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Local Settings\Application Data

It will be rebuilt.
