folder attribute

The folder attribute only shows as hidden and read only and read only option
is always checked even if we create a new folder.Anyone?? please suggest what
can be done to fix it??? .The following forum also discusses the same but
there is not resolution:

There is nothing to fix. Folders are shown as read only in XP.

Folders always have the read-only attribute. However, you can write in
them.
