My computer won't recognize the floppy drive. I've reinstalled all the motherboard drivers (GA-8PE800 Rev:1.1) available at the Gigabyte Download source and the the computer still won't find the floppy drive. What could be the problem and how can I resolve it?

That gave me a bit of a start ;)

A floppy drive doesn't need drivers.

It's probably one of these:

Faulty data cable.
Data cable loose/disconnected
Data cable round the wrong way (the drive's led will usually stay on if this is the case)
Power cable loose/disconnected
The drive itself is faulty.

Unless you've been handling the cables or the computer has had a hard knock recently the last reason I've given is probably the most likely.

A new floppy drive is about a tenner and I think PC World still sell them.

Is there any compelling reason you still need a floppy drive? Most computers don't have them fitted nowadays.
