floppy disk icon

I am trying to put a short cut of my floppy disk drive (3
1/2 A drive) on my desktop. When I click My Computer or
windows explorer and try to drag it to my desktop, I get
this message:

"The item 'A:\' that this shortcut refers to has been
changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work
properly.

Hi,

One thing to try is this.
1. Right Click on the Desktop and Select New -> Shortcut
2. In the path enter a:\
3. Add a title, (XP will put Floppy Drive a: in automatically)
4. Click ok.

A shortcut to the A drive will now appear on the desktop with the correct
icon.

Hi,

Odd, I'm going to wait a while to see what happens to the two shortcuts I
have on my desktop. They seem to work they way I'd expect.

I'll post again later with what I find.

Open My Computer, right click on your floppy drive, click create shortcut.
You then should be asked if you want the shortcut placed on your desktop.
Say yes...that should do it.

One thing to try is this.
If you right-click the desktop shortcut that you made this way, is
there anything other than a:\ in the areas "target" and "start in"?
(Shouldn't be.)

I've got 2 icons on my desktop, one was cut and pasted from My Computer and
one done using New -> Shortcut off the desktop.

Currently both seem to access the floppy drive as expected.

For what it's worth they are attached.
