Floppy disk drive

We are trying to use a 3 1/2" floppy and it just keeps
saying that we need to insert a disk in the drive, like
it won't read the disk that's in there. We tried looking
at the device settings and according to the computer, the
device is up and running properly? Any suggestions
 
Try different drive, or drive in some other system. You get a new one for
$20.00
 
You can get them cheaper at newegg.com

as cheap as $6 each + $5 fed ex shipping.
