Please explain how you made your floppy startup disks.

Try removing or replacing a stick of RAM

i went to bootdisks.com i think it is and clicked on
stcs and went to this page http://www.stcscomputers.com/bootdisks.htm and
downloaded the boot discs and then copyied the file onto the disc and then
booted from that. the first one was fine but when i get to the 2nd disc it
gives that error. i dont think my ram is bad it seems to work just fine any
other time.

To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000
CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute
makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Be sure to apply these to your new install before connecting to any network.

It seems you made yourself a set of boot disks to boot into
"Recovery Console" mode. Any particular reason why you
want to boot into this mode?

There is a far easier way to get into this mode:
1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the CD drive as the first boot device.
2. Boot the machine with your Win2000 CD.
3. When prompted, select Repair.
4. When prompted, select "Recovery Console".

well i dont have a starup cd rom anymore it got lost and all i have now are
my win98 and win95 and i have xp but i dont like XP i prefer win2000 for no
more then i run on it. i just tryed to make those boot discs so i could boot
from them because i dont have any other boot disk. i dont know what bios is
or how to change it.

Bootdisks are just disks that allow you to boot the machine so that
you can install 2000 or XP if you can't boot off the CD. It's not an
anlternative way of running 2000 or XP.

Cheers,

Cliff
