when i change my screen resolution to anything above 800 / 600 my screen gets
to big and floats around. What i mean is the whole screen is not displayed
and if i move my mouse to the right up down left the screen follows it to
show what was off screen before. How can i lock the screen to show everyting
without it floating around when u move my mouse?

It sounds like you have some Accessibility option turned on. Perhaps
magnification? Go to the Accessibility applet in Control Panel and check.

My laptop will do that if I set it do a display resolution bigger than what the graphics adapter can handle. Perhaps it is the same with your system.

First, check that your monitor is capable of displaying resolutions
above 800 x 600 (if it doesn't, time for a new monitor). If it indeed
does, see if you can get an updated monitor / vga driver.

I had this probem with windows 98, but with 98 there was a setting for
monitors, i have 2 (regular and tv viewing with ati card) on 98 there was a
button to click off the tv wihch fixed the problem but xp dont have that
setting.

nobody know a fix for this?

dont have a labtop its a desk computer, and some programs and websites need
higher res, I know the computer is capable of handeling this since i did it
in windows 98, just dont know how to fit the whole screen on my screen.

In that case you will want to look at your Video adapter Advanced
configuration settings. (Display Properties, Settings, Advanced, and
then the tab for your video adapter driver) This is not a feature that
is part of XP.

Open Display Properties, Settings tab, and set both resolution sliders
to the same resolution. Then you won't have to Pan to see the whole screen.
