Flickering textures

When I play some games, so far the only two affected are the Halo demo and
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, the textures flicker. One instant they're
there, then they're gone, then back again. It all happens really fast but
repeatedly, making for a very unpleasant gaming experience. This problem
does not occur all the time, if fact somewhat rarely. All my drivers are
up-to-date, by the way I have an ATI 9700 card with a Dell 8250 system
running 512 MB RAM and 2.66 GHz. If anyone knows of a fix that'd be great!
 
Also make sure that you have the latest chipset drivers for your Dell 8250
system. Also, make sure that you have applied all the patches for Jedi
Outcast. I know that there is at least two (2) patches for the game and
they are found on LucasArts' web site (www.lucasarts.com)
