Flash issue with Windows XP

Hi All,

I have 2 computers running Windows XP. One of them is a recent
install.

Anyhow, on the one that is a recent install, when I try and run
Macromedia Flash, after I click the icon, I get the hour glass, then
nothing. The program never loads. If I do that a couple of times,
eventually Windows freezes and I need to reboot. If I try to open up
the program another way, by clicking on a .fla file, I get the same
result.

On the computer that is an older install, Flash works fine.

Any ideas? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times.
Could it be something in my registry? If yes, how do I find it and fix
it?

I experience similar symptoms with Ulead Gif Animator. Any thoughts or
suggestions would help.

Thanks!

Here's an idea:

Open Internet Options, General tab, Settings button, "View Objects"
button, right-click "Shockwave Flash Object, click Update and see if
that repairs it.

You could try Media Player Classic with Real Alternative instead.

It's not the playing that is the issue, it is the editing of the .fla
files.......

Also, what is Real Alternative? I've never heard of it.
