One of my flash drives appears in the my computer folder as a disk drive (F:)
and won't open, while another works fine and appears as a removeable disk
(F:). Any clues?

By Flash drive, do you mean USB thumb-type drives?

If so, you should be aware that these do have a habit of suddenly and
irretriveably failing. You can't rely on these for backup or storage for
this reason. They should be regarded only as a convenient tool for moving
files that do exist elsewhere.
