Flash crashes Internet Explorer 6

Whenever I install the Shockwave Flash Object and visit a
page that requires flash then my IE6 crashes! Without the
flash player installed if I go to a page that requires
FLASH then a message comes up asking me if I want to
install Flash version 7 and I can surf the net without any
hangs or crashes as long as I keep pressing NO when this
message comes. Of course surfing in this fashion is quite
difficult. If I press YES and install version 7 then IE6
will crash everytime it goes to a page requiring FLASH.

I've tried installing older versions of Flash Player but
there is no improvement. I've reinstalled IE6 and repaired
it but to no avail. I've even tried following the
instructions found on the following link but still it
makes no difference:

The only thing that DOES fix it is if I downgrade to IE5
which is really weird - why crash in IE6 and not IE5? I'd
like to use IE6 though and would appreciate any help you
wise ones out there can provide.

I am having the same problem but I was not sure that it
was Flash causing it. Why hasn't MS addressed this
problem. I know I am sending 20 to 40 error reports to
them a day. I think I will switch to netscape and see if
that will work. If you find a solution let me

I don't have a direct solution to your problem (I have a problem in which IE
crashes often if I try to click on a button within a flash object). But in
any case, here is a free little app that shuts off flash (and pictures
separately). At least you won't get those annoying "install flash" warnings
anymore and HOPEFULLY your browser won't crash. I generally leave flash
disabled anyway, since it's usually used for eye candy nonsense, along with
a way for obnoxious advertisers to get around ad killing software.

Here it is Flash and Pics Control 2.0:

Hope it works for you.
