If you have had the "problem" in which you have to type a quotation
mark or an apostrophe twice when typing, you're probably have the
international keyboard option turned on. I've searched for a while and
found information from previous operating systems, but it took some
digging to find the same thing for Windows XP, so here is how to
disable it...
1) Go to Control Panel (Classic View) -> Regional and Language Options.
2) On the "Languages" tab click the "Details" button.
3) On the "Settings" tab, in the "Installed services" tree view, select
"United States-International" and then click the "Remove" button.
That should take care of it. No reboot should be required, but you may
have to restart apps that were already running (such as Internet
Explorer or Word).
I hope this saves somebody some time in the future.
