Fix 16 Bit Sub System

Bishop

16 bit applications have stopped working on my computer. When I launch them
they don't open, no error or events logged. I re-installed windows 2000
over the existing install and re-applied service packs but still no
difference. Anyone know if there is any spisific steps to fixing fixing or
re-installing just the 16 bit sub system?

There are numerous refs to this in the MS kb, perhaps you should work
through them.
It can also, so I found, be caused by a conflict with a background app

I already looked through Knowledge Base but found nothing spisific to
re-installing the sub system. I couldn't find anything else that was close
to the problem I was happening. I also thought of other programs running
but it dosn't appear to be that. I started with safe mode, heald down the
shift key, made sure nothing was in the registry "Run" and "RunOnce" and
checked task manager.

I dont believe its anything to do with reinstalling subsystem. It's I believe
caused by a conflict, somewhere.
If you have a specific app that gives this error you 'may' get a further
clue by running it via this utility;
