I've been planning these parts for two weeks and have been refining the
list ever since, but more input from pro's can never hurt. I was
wondering if anyone would mind giving some pointers? Are these parts
compatible? Are they good parts? Is there anything else I should invest
in? Any help would be great. I plan on using the computer for alot of
graphic design, especially Adobe products, and I guess a little gaming.
Thanks alot!

You would save money to buy a case/PSU combo. How about this one:

You are getting a socket 939 mobo, why not consider going the extra
distance and get an Athlon 64 X2 (dual core) cpu? Of course budget ($) is
a factor, I suppose you could upgrade in the future.

Perhaps consider getting a single or even two 1GB modules (2x1GB)-- if you
buy the 2x512 you will occupy two of your memory slots with 512MB chips,
which you might have to junk or ebay if you want to upgrade memory later.
Depends on how intense graphics you plan to do-- do the math and see what
kind of ram you need. For example, I am building a somewhat similar
system, going dual core cpu, and 4GB RAM because I will be doing 20x30
inch graphic images 10 layers 300dpi 24bits-- which can easily utilize the
4GB of system RAM.

Are these parts
compatible? Are they good parts?

Search the web and newsgroups for the names (both at once) of your
candidate mobo and RAM. Throw in words such as 'trouble' and 'issue'.
If both are popular and you see no negative comments about the
combination, you should be okay.

Search the newegg reviews of your mobo and RAM.

I read your specs, and I think that this is a decent system. All the
suggestions replied to you are good too. My own are: I would bung in a
creative X-FI soundcard, but you might not see this as a priority, just to
let you know that when I got one of these I was impressed with it!

I would recommend getting a single stick of memory, 1gb, instead of the
2x512mb. It will cost less and save you room for upgrading later. Here
is Corsair Value in a 1gb stick form.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145505

Also, I think I would consider going with an ATI X1600XT. Its cheaper,
and will run all of the new software and shaders and stuff thats coming
out. It has higher clocks than the X800 also.

Not good advice. His motheboard supports dual channel ddr so 2 sticks of ram
is optimal.

C

creAtive oBscura

Well atleast still check out the X1600XT instead if you are stuck on
dual channel.
But if you want dual channel, just wait and save a little more and go
2x1gb sticks, much more worth it.

dawg, please indicate some benchmarks showing that dual channel is a big
deal.
