firewire, xp and w2k

hello,
can anybody point me to a resource that explains how to
set-up a connection between a laptop with xp and a desktop
running w2k pro through an IEEE 1394?

Very simple.
First, get a right cable. Laptops usually have a small firewire connector and desktops have full-size connector.
so you need a big-to small cable or adaptor on one end.
Hopefully you let the firewire driver as Windows installed it: didn't disable firewire network interface or change it's
settings.
Now connect the machines. Wait ~ 10 seconds. Run ipconfig on both ends to verify that tcp/ip uses autoconfig addresses.
That's all. The rest is usual NT chores about usernames, permissions etc. (not related to firewire).
