Firewire HDD Enclosure Problem

I just bought a CD-309-COMBO hard drive enclosure and I cannot get it to
recognize wth firwire. With USB it boots up just fine and Windows says that
it detected new hardware, but with firewire all it will do is make that ding
sound Windows makes when you plug in things to your firewire port. Other
firewire devices work fine. I am running Windows XP Pro.
