Firewalls

I recently upgraded from ME to XP and have had continuous
problems with my Norton Internet Security Firewall. It
has been so frustrating I have had to remove my firewall
to communicate on XP. Is this a common problem for
others? Is the Windows XP firewall secure enough (Patch
1) to run alone?
 
Running two firewalls causes conflicts. XP's only scan incoming
action and not outgoing. I turned off my XP firewall and just use my
McAfee. That said, lots of people have had problems with NIS.
