Unwanted websites keep popping up after I
hit my Inbox in Yahoo mail. Can I put up
a firewall to prevent this ?

Check with Yahoo.com
They just installed a spam button in the inbox a few
weeks ago and it works great.

.AD-AWARE AND SPYBOT ARE HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED AS WELL
(SEARCH THEM OUT IN YOUR SEARCH ENGINE), I USE BOTH, PLUS
NORTON AND MY ISP'S POP UP BLOCKER. DO NOT RESPOND TO THE
POP UPS STATING THEY CAN STOP POPUPS.

NO! A firewall will block Internet access to your PC. What you need is a
POP-UP blocker utility.

The newest version of ZoneAlarm does have a pop-up blocker that works
decently, so your NO! isn't absolute.

A firewall to prevent access *from* the internet has become an
essential. And will block any pop-up ads that are hitting the
'Messenger service' through an open port, which a blocker program will
not do - that is a different mechanism, as part of web pages. As this
port is the one also used by things like the BLAST worm, it *needs* to
be blocked.
