Hi there

One of the reasons for my intention to upgrade to Vista, is my desire to rid
myself of Norton's Internet Security 2006, and it's ccapp.exe problem which
seems to have no cure. What i'd like to know, though, is: Will Vista meet my
security needs, more or less, as NIS 2006 would? Will Vista cause the same
degradation in Broadband speed, as NIS seems to do?

I'm using Vista Business and I get the same broadband throughput as I did in
XP. I'm currently using the built-in Vista firewall. Vista does not come
with all of the same security features "out of the box" that NIS 2006
provides, but there are a number of choices, many of which are freeware.

I tried NIS 2007 shortly after I installed my Vista Ultimate. I ended up
having some issues with it and got a refund from Symantec. I just recently
installed Norton 360 and am quite pleased with it. It is very unobtrusive
and I've got no degradation in my connection speed (5G cable).

Although I'm personally very happy with Visata, I don't understand why you
think you need to upgrade to it to get rid of Norton. There are lots of
other security applications, many of them freeware, that you can acquire
without going to Vista.

There are good reasons to go to Vista, but this isn't one of them.

No. You will need a separate anti-virus application, since Vista doesn't
come with one.

Will Vista cause the same degradation in Broadband speed, as
NIS seems to do?

No.
