Norton Internet Security 2007 - how to allow browsing?

Norton Internet Security 2007 firewall seems even less inutitive than v
2006...

Have installed a 3G/UMTS PC Card, and find that when IE launches, the only
way I can get onto the net is by disabling the NIS 2007 personal firewall.

Unlike 2006, there are no hints/prompts to guide you through what to do -
all that happens when I enter a web URL you see 'website found - waiting for
eply...' then after some minutes, it just ends up with 'Cannot find server
or DNS error'

After wading around the very unhelpful interface, I've added the network to
the 'trusted' list - but still no go.

Any ideas?

- seriously, if you are about to upgrade to NIS 2007, make sure you see it
working on someone elses PC first - I've been using PCs for over 15 years
and this has to be the most confusing program I've experienced, honest -

The best advice that I can give you is NOT to install anything from Symantec. It just creates problems. Not what it used to be when Peter Norton had hands on.

Hi, I recently had problems with Norton and switched to a virus program
called NOD 32 from www.eset.com. There is a free 30 day trial. It has a
more effective detection rate and is lighter running less applications in the
background. I am really happy with it and would reccommend it over Symantec
because I got a nasty virus even with Symantec and all my definitions were up
to date and then I had to pay them to fix my system. Just a thought for what
it's worth.
Best regards,
Kaja
