Firewall

I installed the Beta Spyware software, and it appeared to
turn my Firewall off. I've tried to turn it back on but
I can't. I've even removed the Spyware software but I
still can't turn on the Firewall. Has anyone else
encountered this problem? I've even gone into services
and tried to start it that way but to no avail.

Lots of people, actually. As you might have noticed, had you just given
the group a short look before posting your question. ;-)

From a message of Bill Sanderson, from yesterday:

| If you are running Windows XP, Service Pack 2:

| At a command prompt, type:

| netsh winsock reset

| hit enter
| restart machine.

Whoa

We really should have a better forum just so that it
would be easier to see common entries so people wouldn't
have to search through 36+ pages.

I agree. How about trying an NNTP newsreader, or something close to it,
like Outlook Express? ;-)

How-To is at the top screen!

A better mousetrap is everybody's desire here. Unfortunately the HTTP
access method for these groups is not the best, and its search is balky and
problematic in my (not very recent) experience.

NNTP is better, but you still have to search or read before you post, which
few remember to do--especially in the heat of an issue like your network
connection is down.

We've got a FAQ now--and it'd be nice if you had to blow past the FAQ to get
to the HTTP interface, but we've never managed that nicety either--FAQ is
here:
