Firewall won't stay unchecked

Ed.

I see other posts where others have the same problem as I do. I don't want
the XP firewall. I go to Security Center and on the left to Change the way
the Security alerts me and take the check out for the firewall. I OK my way
out. After the next boot, that dam check mark is back and keep getting the
balloon text in the Taskbar advising that the firewall isn't turned on.

Anyone know a fix for this or why this happening?

Thanks.

Hi Ed:

This seems to be happening to several people for some unknown reason.
Right now the only fix I can suggest is to turn off the Security
Center service. From RUN type in "services.msc" (no quotes) and
press enter. When the services dialog opens, scroll on down to
Security Center. Highlight the service, right click, select
properties, and change the startup type to disabled. Reboot.

Not the best solution, but for the time being until a fix is known
it'll keep the SCP from annoying popups. Just be sure you have a good
firewall turned on and of course AV software running.
