Firewall will not let me enable it

Can someone please help me ,i just received a message from my security
manager that my firewall(XP) has been disabled somehow and will not let me
enable it.Keeps telling me that that the associated service is not running
and when i go to click on run associated service it wont allow it to.
I went into the Windows Security Centre and it says that AVG firewall is
turned off.Now i have been using XP's firewall so unsure as to why that has
come up.

Check AVG's firewall itself and see if its running. As this is beta software, it may not correctly expose itself to the Security Center so it knows its running.
