I know the XP has it's own firewall system which seems to
work pretty well, however it seems that I have seen
somewhere that the firewall could be set to block certain
types of incoming web material. I have a pop up stopper,
but I am still blasted with certain web sites that keep
popping up, no matter how quickly I close them and
whenever i log onto the internet.
Any suggestions ??

Have you installed, and do you use on a regular basis, a spyware removing
program? There are some little programs that serreptitiously place
themselves on your computer and could causing the appearance of pop-up ads.
One good program to try is Ad-aware. Spybot is another.
