In my firewall settings (Trend Micro)I have a checkmark
next to a setting that say's "Allow my computer to be
visible on the local network (NetBios)". This was checked
by default, should I leave it alone or should I disable it?
Any help is appreciated.

Unless you are on a local network, more than one machine in your house that
requires netbios lookup of machine name, then you can disable that.

It is probably desirable on a local network (in general you should not
need a firewall between machines in a LAN), but make *very* sure it is
turned off on any connection to the internet. that is the means by
which the BLAST worm and its friends came in.
