firewall keeps talking about port scan

My firewall has been reporting every few moments now
a "port scan logged." Is this something to be worried
about? What is it? Actually earlier today my computer
got infected with Blaster worm which I deleted
successfully. This port scan thing started happening
after this. I am wondering if they might be somehow
connected, or again, is this nothing to be worried about?
Otherwise my computer seems to be running fine.

Your Computer's ports are scanned whenever you download something. They are also scanned whenever you use an IM service (such as ICQ, AIM, Yahoo! Messenger or MSN), using a FTP client (WS_FTP...CuteFTP) or when using IRC

However, note that if the port scan notice appears even when you are not doing any of the above, a virus or a hacker may be trying to find and exploit a vunerable port in your computer.
