firewall disables its self

hi
can someone please help!i have my internet connections
firewall enabled all the time.but for some reason my
firewall has disabled its self several times in the last
2 weeks.when i go to properties(advanced)the tick in
enable my firewall has been removed but on occasions it
is still there but local area connections shows padlock
is removed fire wall is disabled.can somebody please tell
me why this is and what can i do.
