When I start up my computor I get a firewall alert that
says: Rune Windows XP Home, OE6, Use McAfee Virus Scan,
McAfee Firewall, have Ad aware.
PROGRAM:Generic Host Process for Win 32 Servise
Path: C;\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe
Rule Violation: outbound to UDP/IP protocol on port 3005
Firewall has detected that this application is trying
to access a resource outside of its allowed boundries.
What would you like to do. I just keep hitting allow,
but I get his everytime I log on. Why does it do this.
It also does it if other users on our PC log on. Can
someone help me with this.

Generic Host Process is a general service that your programs use for online
communications. Unfortunately this and svchost.exe won't give specifics
about which program they're hosting. You could open a command prompt
window and type "netstat -ano" (without the quotes) to get a list of what
ports are in use and a corresponding PID (Process Identification number).
This list can be cross referenced with the PID numbers shown in Task
Manager on the Processes page.

In other words, some program is loading at startup and asking for access
through the firewall on port 3005. The program could be legit or not. You
won't know that until you figure out what program is asking for the
connection. You could say no to the connection instead of yes. This isn't
irreversible. If there's a loss of functionality to the online programs you
normally use, just go back to saying yes.
