FireFox Quicktime Problem

Hello.

I use Firefox browser. When I click on an MP3 download link, Quicktime
starts, yet my Quicktime seems to be broke, as it does not play anything. I
want to change the plug-in to Windows Media Player. How do I do that?

Find an .mp3 file in Windows Explorer, right click and select Open With.
Browse to WPM, mark the always use block and click OK. This will reset the
mp3 file association to WMP.
 
We're happy for ya... but this is a group for discussing the WINDOWS
XP OPERATING SYSTEM.

NOT browsers, and CERTAINLY NOT Firefox.

Well, I made a mistake by posting my question here. But why are you happy
for me? Why do you believe that the others are happy form me? Are you
happy because my software is not running well?

My MP3 files are associated with Media Player. Yet only FireFox insists on
using QuickTime. When I did what you recommended, the check-box: always use
the selected program to open this kind of file, is grayed out, disabled.

Hi Talal,

You mention "download" link but then talk about playing the file. Do
you want to download it or play it?

In FF, click Tools, Options, Content, and under File Types, click the
Manage button. in the Download Actions dialog, see if the file type is
listed, and click Change Action to select how you want FF to handle the
file type.

WoW. I looked for it, and I searched for it, and I ignored it, for a long
time. Not it is fixed. Thank You! That Did It!

Quicktime hijacks file types when it is installed. SO first either
uninstall Quicktime, or open Quicktime and "uncheck" all the file types
that you don't want it to handle. THEN go set the application that you
want to handle the MP3's as default.
