Do you know how they collect browser info? That is, what
determines "this is FF" vs. "this is IE."

Apparently many FF users have to add a la "MSIE 6.0" to their
user-agent string in order to be able to access some websites,
incl. M$ updates and searches. In other words, a browser is two
(or more) different agents at the same time.

Another VERY BIZARRE TANGENT. Again!

Hey, Vrodok, I think it might be best if I just skip interacting with you.
Sound fair?

Are you sure it can be 2 at the same time?

The user-agent switch I've got as a FF extension allows me to spoof the
browser as IE6 (or as Netscape or Opera, for that matter), but it still
shows up as one or the other, rather than both.

Yes, I am. The user-agent is just a string which may contain
anything. That is not say that _all_ users have both (more than
one) browser ID's. Of course, I would not dare to guess how many
users specify more than one. But methinks that the necessity to
fake IE is likely to favor IE in statistics.

Not to me it didn't - omegas post appeared to agree with you - as IE
declines, so the Moz browsers gain.

I also saw no personal references.

I seem to recall you posting here over the years, without such
paranoia or apparent determination to offend people - are you OK ?

Serious question by the way !

See my above comment. Then again, it's your decision.

Perhaps on a technical point; when "omega" appeared to dispute the
numerical-values I posted (thereby, perhaps; I thought, calling into question
the validity of my research), I was offended (hmmm; what's that "off on a
'tangent'" line-of-thought for, I wonder[ed]).
or apparent determination to offend people

No; simply "defensive", in my own inimicable way.
- are you OK ?

Not really, but that story is both "[OT]" & *much* too long for this group.
Serious question by the way !

Thank you for asking.

communication is at least a two way street - I bear no responsibility
for how you interpret what I say, so long as I feel I have made
reasonable efforts to make myself clear.

In this case, I think omega was clear enough - hence my earlier
question to you as to why you chose/felt obliged to interpret comments
as negative and personal to you.

Just my opinion, well meant, but will stop now :)

Cheers

Only explanation I can figure is that perhaps the stats I quoted
from the article play like the stories about rock albums - spin the
record backwards and hear the chants of devils. said:

Thank you for the support, Alastair. I'm out of here, too. No more
Vrodok for me. His aggressive tangents of late are far too bizarre
to hassle with.

In that case, I shall not offer the apology which had been in the
consideration-stage, a few minutes ago.
