Finding previous version after accepting all changes

I'm working on Word 2007. Is there any way to undo 'Accept all changes' or
'Delete all changes" after the document has been opened and closed. My boss
was working on a paper and he had lots of changes. We accepted all of them,
but when he opened it up today and (emailed it yesterday) all of the accepted
changes have disappeared. What happened? He says he saved it. And I know we
pushed the 'Accept all changes' button. Is there any way to find all the
work that he had done? Thanks for all your help.

If he opened the document directly from email, edited it, and saved it, it
was saved to a temporary file. The file he opened today was probably the
original.
