finding files

Recently I have tried to open files in my documents and I get the
respones...file not available. Then when I try to close I get a box saying
there were changes made to the global template....I have no clue as to what
to do. I haave had some of theses files for 2-3 years
 
You are prompted to save the changes to the Normal.dot global template every
time that you quit Word
